Our Founder & History
Sitthisin Watanasiriroch, P.E.
Sitthisin Watanasiriroch founded Watana (Wa’ta’na) Engineering in June 2001. Being an Electrical Professional Engineer, Sitthisin already had many years of experience in the Utility business specializing in Relay Engineering and design. Sitthisin built an extraordinary company by focusing on hiring proven, dedicated, utility professionals in the industry. The combination of hiring the best talent along with serving his customers as the top priority, has proven to be the key component in the success of Watana Engineering.
Now, 20 years later, Watana has totally transitioned from an initial model of Relay Engineering to a diverse multi-discipline business model that encompasses many avenues, primarily supporting Transmission Utility Engineering and services. With over 60 full time and contract employees, Watana has the expertise and relationships in the industry to be able to respond quickly and efficiently to new, unique requests from our customers.
Our staff includes many board-certified Professional Engineers in several disciplines and exceptional, experienced, designers with many years of experience. It also includes a mixture of retired utility professionals combined with knowledgeable experts in the industry that support other disciplines in Watana’s portfolio.
Headquartered in Charlotte, NC, our geographical range primarily covers North and South Carolina due to familiarity with the power system and substation designs, but our location and capabilities allow Watana the ability to cover the entire Southeast.
Watana Engineering is currently registered (for over 18 years) with The Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses by the Department of Administration for the State of North Carolina and is listed in the Statewide Uniform Certification Program database. Watana is also in the process of a national certification with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC).
To serve our customers and stakeholders with excellence to achieve profitable growth which enables us to care for people in a way that honors God.
